How to send large video files to clients
Masters, footage and editing projects weighing tens of GB: how to send large video files to clients, with uploads that resume and download alerts.
updated on October 28, 2026
A master ready for delivery, a full day’s worth of footage, an editing project with all its linked media: if you work with video, as an editor, colorist or creator, you handle files weighing tens or hundreds of GB. Email stops at 20–25 MB, and a drive sent by courier takes days. What you need is a link that gets the file to its destination intact.
What you need when delivering a video
- Room for the whole job. The master, the social cuts and the project files should travel together, without splitting them across several transfers.
- An upload that doesn’t start over. On a slow line an upload can take hours: if it’s interrupted, it should resume from where it stopped.
- The original quality. Your client should receive exactly the file you exported, with no recompression.
- Knowing when it arrived. A download alert saves you the call to ask whether your client has seen it.
- No account for the recipient. Your client opens the link and downloads, file by file or everything as a .zip.
How to send large videos with DIGO Express
On the free plan you can send up to 5 GB without signing up, often enough for a review version. With Pro you get up to 2 TB per transfer and 5 TB of space for active transfers; Enterprise has no size limit per transfer, goes up to 20 TB of space and lets you use a different brand for each client. Files stay in Europe, on servers in Italy. Here are the steps:
- Add your filesDrag the master, the footage or the entire project folder into the box: subfolders stay exactly as you organized them.
- Choose how to send themBy email to your recipients, or as a link only, to paste into a chat or your business software. With Pro the link stays active for up to 90 days.
- Upload without worryThe upload is split into chunks and resumes on its own if the line drops. If the page closes, reopen it in the same browser within 24 hours and add the same files to pick up where you left off.
- Track the deliveryWith Pro you get an email when your client downloads, and a reminder goes out automatically if they haven’t yet.
Getting footage from your clients
Often the workflow runs the other way too: it’s your client who has to send you the footage, the logos or the music. With Request files (Pro and Enterprise) you create a request, send the link and your client uploads everything from a page with your brand, without signing up. You get an email for each upload, and the files stay in your dashboard for 30 days, ready to download.
Tips for smooth deliveries
- Gather the project and media in one folder. Use your editing software’s feature that copies the project and its linked files into one place, then drag in the whole folder: the structure is kept.
- Don’t zip your videos. They’re already compressed formats: the gain is minimal and it only takes longer.
- Protect unreleased work with a password and a download limit (Pro), and send the password through a different channel from the link.
- Sent the wrong version? With Pro you revoke the link from your transfer history and send a new one.
- Schedule embargoed deliveries. With Enterprise you upload in advance, and the link opens, with the email to your recipients, on the date and time you choose.
